2 Person Team Event – River Hills Golf Course

 

 

It was an eerie start to the day.  Dark looking clouds abound the sky with a strong hint of humidity in the air.  As the groups started out on their 18 hole adventure, thunder claps could be heard and you just know something strange was going to occur.  What was that something strange?  It was 2 twenty plus handicaps, bumping and grinding their way around the golf course like 2 dancers around the pole at a gentleman's club.  The bumped and grinned it to a new 2 man scoring record of 54, 18 under par with an astonishing net 26 on Alternate shot where one of these 2 twenty plus golfers was sure to hit it OB, or in a Hazard now and then.  Never happened, not once the whole 18 holes as I got a front row seat to this debacle.  None the less, my hats off to Danny Wims and my guest from Chicago whom I paired with Danny, Bob Selleg playing in only his 3rd round in all of 2008.

Not to be overshadowed is the great play of Larry Smothers and Paul O'Bryant also shooting a sub 60 round with a net 59.  Rounding out the top 4 was Bob Hansen our member from Michigan and his partner, Jimmy Fox and in 4th place, newcomer Grady Gibson and 3 year vet Mike Spivey.

The low Alt Shot round was the 26 by Wims and Selleg.  The low Mod Scramble/Net BB round was a 26 shot by Hansen and Fox.
